Meet Karine, owner of My Guiltless Treats

Our mission is to create a better way to enjoy desserts. Wouldn't be fantastic to sit down to your favorite part of the meal and not feel guilty after you finish? Guilt is something we feel when our actions go against what we know. We know that desserts are bad. We know that they are high in calories. And we also know that we are on a diet and trying to eat healthier. But what if I told you that our desserts don't make you feel guilty? Hmm... intriguing. Let me introduce to you the panna cotta dessert. The Italian-dessert is similar to flan. Unlike the traditional dessert, we use coconut cream instead of heavy cream so consumers with lactose intolerance can enjoy it. The coconut panna cotta is enriched with casein (milk protein without the lactose) and sweetened with agave and a dash of stevia.  Then it is layered over real mango or guava puree, or pineapple bits.

The lightbulb idea that started Guiltless Treats came from my time as a hospital pharmacist. I was tired of titrating up patients' insulin and medication doses while their diets didn't change. When I inquired about their diabetic diet, patients complained that they could not stick with it because the recommended foods tasted awful (such as keto-bread, zero-sugar ice cream or no-sugar fruit pies). That's when I got my "aha moment": Make a diabetic-friendly dessert that does not contain artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. Make it affordable.
